Marine Conservation

At ABAF, “repairing the world” is both a local commitment and a global partnership. We believe Tikun Olam thrives through collective action, which is why our Community Service iniitiatives are deeply connected to the worldwide network of volunteers and organizations dedicated to this sacred work. We bridge our Nigerian community with international movements to amplify impact, share resources, and celebrate service together.

We actively seek, promote, and partner with visionary organizations—both non-profit and for-profit—that are shaping this future today. These pioneers create what we call  “Products of the Future”: durable, useful goods made from recycled waste and designed for markets that value sustainability.

We collaborate with organizations that specialize in converting specific waste streams, especially plastics, into high-value, long-lasting products. These partnerships demonstrate that recycled materials can be both environmentally responsible and commercially viable.

By promoting these Products of the Future, we help create consumer demand for recycled goods. This demand, in turn, drives increased waste collection and recycling activity. Through our media platforms, we connect waste collectors, recyclers, manufacturers, and consumers—telling the story of a new, restorative economy where waste becomes value.

ABAF’s marine conservation work operates on three interconnected levels:

Global Engagement – Active participation in international marine protection initiatives.

Local Action – On-the-ground clean-up and awareness campaigns in Nigeria and across Africa.

Circular Innovation – Promoting recycling enterprises that transform waste into durable products.

This holistic approach allows us to prevent pollution, restore waterways, and redefine the meaning of waste itself.

Global Partnerships: Repair the Sea

We are proud partners in two flagship global initiatives led by Repair the Sea (USA): Tikkun HaYam and Bedikat HaMayim, programs dedicated to ocean restoration and waterway protection..

Embodying the mission to “reverse trash,” we organize and promote clean-up drives that intercept plastic before it reaches the sea. As an African partner, we expand these initiatives by recruiting volunteers, promoting participation, and documenting impact across the continent..

Through public awareness and community mobilization, we help break the chain of plastic pollution by cleaning beaches, riverbanks, and drainage systems—the final barriers protecting our marine ecosystems.

Flagship Circular Economy Partnership

One of our key partnerships is with MyWaste, a South African manufacturer that transforms waste plastic into premium, weather-resistant outdoor furniture with a 60-year warranty. This collaboration ensures that recovered plastic is reborn into durable products, reducing deforestation while creating strong market demand for recycled materials.

We continue to seek and promote organizations that accelerate recycling by transforming waste into valuable, market-ready goods—helping to build an ecosystem where recycling is fast, efficient, and economically sustainable.

A Connected Global Mission

From the coastlines of Florida to the waterways of Nigeria, Kenya, and Lake Victoria in Uganda, the mission to repair our seas is shared. ABAF stands at the nexus—connecting global movements, local volunteers, and forward-thinking businesses to turn the tide on marine pollution for good.
